In fact many of the participants of other yoga centres who attended S.D.M.Prasanti Camp held at SVYASA on 6th April 2010 were young and a few were adolescents. The diabetes detection camps were held earlier in January 2010 in different locations of Bangalore. I had attended Mega Diabetic Awareness Camp at Jayanagar organized by SDM project undertaken by SVYASA on 10.01.2010.

What are the yoga practices recommended to Stop Diabetes through Yoga ?

  4. Diabetes, especially adult onset diabetes (Diabetes 2) is helped by all forms exercises, more so by yoga.

Yoga is a comprehensive exercise involving different muscles. The effects are more pronounced as yoga involves those muscles also which are not commonly used in daily life.Larger muscles, combination of muscles and unusual muscle use make yoga a specific form of exercise for diabetes.

Fasting, breathing exercises; being a part of yogic discipline also helps in diabetes.

This makes yoga an essential to exercise programmes for prevention and treatment of diabetes.

  7. Dr.Binod Bihari Naik says:

    Respected Sir,

You topic ‘Stop Diabetes through Yoga’ makes me query that what is it meant? From ages it has been known as Madhumeha roga because of observance of cluster of bees crowded on the droplet of urine of a person. It is due to passing of unusual sugar that reflects hyperglycaemia caused by unable-utilization by muscle-mass or mal-function of beta-cell of pancreas. Hence it is not a disease-entity that is cured by antibiotic, rather it is a metabolic disorder caused by faulty life-style. So our aim is to bring discipline life style which reverses the disorder and restores the normal health. But it expatiates early restoration of same by yoga as yoga is a way for healthy life style. So definitely proper practice of yoga with guidance contributes to stop diabetes.

Thanks for your advice to stop morbidity of diabetes by yoga to lessen the epidemic load particularly for Indian generation.

    With Regards
    Your Divine Brother
    Dr.Binod Bihari Naik
