Sai Darshan in Shirdi

Shirdi Sai

I had the Darshan of Sai in Shirdi on Thursday November 18, 2010.

The Darshan commenced with depositing my Guru Dakshina to Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi Dist.Ahmednagar Maharashtra India. I first went to see Dwarkamai where Saibaba was staying; giving discourses and worshiped by his devotees in his life time. Dhuni: the sacred fire lit by Saibaba is kept ever burning here. The ash from this fire is called Udi; and it is distributed to the devotees attending his holy place in Shirdi. Then I proceeded to see Chavadi. Saibaba in his life time was being taken in a procession by his devotees in the late evening on alternate days from Dwarkamai to Chavadi and worshiped there during his stay. Saibaba used to sleep in the Dwarkamai and in the Chavadi on alternate days till his Maha Samadhi. I then had Darshan of Saibaba in the Samadhi Mandir. The Samadhi Mandir has been built by installing his statue in the Samadhi sthala and Baba is  worshiped here by his devotees after his Maha Samadhi.

On the day of my first Darshan and following two days, I joined the gathering of Sai devotees in attending Dhoop Arati and Madhyana Arati at Samadhi Mandir Campus. I had Darshan of Gurusthan, where the young Yogi later named as Saibaba was first seen in Shirdi meditating under a Neem tree which still exists; when he was about sixteen years old. I also visited Khandoba Mandir, where the priest of the temple Mhalsapati addressed the young Yogi Fakir as ‘Aao Sai’ seeing him in the open courtyard of Khandoba`s temple on  his reappearance in Shirdi after about four years of his disappearance. Others also addressed him as ‘Sai’ and thenceforth, he became ‘Sai Baba’.I also visited Lendi Baug, the garden grown and nurtured by Saibaba now well maintained by Saibaba Sansthan . I saw the articles and clothes used by Saibaba in his life time preserved in the Museum by Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi. I had the privilege of partaking Anna Prasad of Saibaba in Sai Prasadalaya at a nominal cost during my Shirdi trip.

Shirdi is the Karma Bhoomi of Saibaba. It is the place where the biography of Saibaba was written by Hemadpant during the life time of Baba depicting his wonderful life and teachings in ‘Shri Sai Satcharita’ which spread Sai Spirituality not only in India but in the whole World. After Darshan of Sai in Shirdi, I have the feeling that I have grown up my existential, intellectual, emotional and devotional clarity in Sai Spirituality.

    Congratulations on having a darshan.
Very good description of the Darshan places.

  2. Vinod Varma says:

Pursuit of illusive happiness in a dog-eating-dog world of today eventually leads one to spirituality. What can be better nourishment for spirituality than pilgrimage, in pursuit of divine inspiration.

When we are caught in the maze of every day life, experiences from such pilgrimage provide inspiration and direction as a true Guru.

    Asmadacarya Paryantam Vande Guru Paramparam

Salutation to the very lineage of Gurus, starting with supreme God himself, continued with many unknown (to me) Gurus like Adi Sankara, and eventually up to my immediate teachers who dedicated their energy into spreading the message of devotion, compassion, and knowledge.

    Sai Ram :),

Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences and the very good description of the places you visited. As you have mentioned that : “Sri Sai Satcharitha” the life history of Sri Sai written by Hemadpanth, I recomend and also request that all the persons who visit this article to read that book and get eternal bless of Shri Sai Nath Maharaj and get peace of mind.

Also I like to add some importance of “Udi”, the wonderful medicine for all the maladies :

“Paramam Pavithram Baba Vibhuthim, Paramam Vichithram Leela Vibhuthim, Paramaartha Ishtartha Moksha Pradhaatham, Baba Vibhuthim Idhamaashrayaami, Sai Vibhuthim, Idhamaashrayaami”

  8. Chandra Kumar Panda says:

    Sir,
    Namaskar.

My joy knew no bounds after going through the article of Shirdi darshan where you have categorically mentioned about “Gurudakshina to Guru”.

Sir, so far my knowledge is concerned, this Guru & Shishya Parampara are there since the era of Ramayana and Mahavarata and this shows that both are related to each other.

Sir, now you are at leisure to visit places & enjoy the life.
May Lord Shirdi Sai bless us to have a visit to his holy place.
I welcome you to Orissa during the month of December 2010.

  9. Tapas says:

After reading this article, I have seen my Darshan in flashback. No one could be able to step into Shirdi Sai Dham unless until his or her luck favours. If the blessing of Sai Baba is with someone, then he or she can take an opportunity besides every hurdle.

The article briefs everything one needs to know who want to get there. I remember one thing which I will never forget in my life; when I had got the opportunity to have Sai Baba’s Noon Arati, myself & my family were in queue, I was the last person to get into the shutter towards Samadhi Mandir. After that all the devotees behind me hadn’t got the opportunity of it. It was all Sai Baba’s blessing.

May Sai Baba bless all of His devotees to have a Darshan in Samadhi Mandir.

    Om Sai Ram.

Through ur article I gained a lot of knowledge about Sai Dham.
So many many thnx 2 u.

  14. Chandra Kumar Panda says:

I became glad that it is too different between the pictorial sight and the sight in front of the eye sight.I read the article last year, but after Sai Darshan in Shirdi during recent visit, now I am able to know the meaning of what is “Dwarakamai”,What is Samadhi sthal etc.Because physical sight gives much more to learn & experience than the story or picture. What a tremendous and magnificent area of the Sadguru Sai, What a Bhojanalaya ? Sir, keeping to your word I did not fail to visit Dwarakamai.

May Sadguru Sai bless to pay my life & everything at his feet.
    Om Sai

  16. Dr.Binod Bihari Naik says:

    Respected Sir,

Your Sai Darshan or Sai pilgrimage is a picturesque view on me more than the image on the mirror. Your description on hearty devotion and complete delineation of Baba’s place of daily pursuit is definitely enroute to everybody to visit Shirdi at least once even in busy life .Because those who visit with faith and devotion surely reap the benefit of divine progress beyond description .Event happened with me . Once along with my wife and second son Nihar visited casually to Sai Baba on the way to attend an interview at Loni for medical selection. My son was showered with blessing of a garland while in queues with devotee line during his visit, then we became sure to get a medical seat though his serial number was beyond hope and attending the same we got a B.D.S. seat in top list and now after completion of B.D.S. he continued M.D.S. with blessing of Shirdi Sai Baba. He is an ardent devotee of Baba and inspired even to visit nearby to any temple of Sai anywhere .Thus he is feeling the omnipresence of Baba. Hence it is not an exaggeration rather than information to those have intense desire to be destined. Don’t make delay in life to test divine splendour of Sai Baba who is an incarnation of kaliyug . One may further enrich his spiritual upliftment if adds visit to Mahasamadhi of Saibaba of Puttaparthi who spent his whole life for human society and exhorted to human to remain as nearer to God.

Here I end with a dictum that: Sadguru is eternal, goal on Him, To uphold Him at least follow the path of astute ardent devotee who is a torch bearer for you.

Rest may take guidance from Dr.Mahesh Chandra Panda to be inspired more on the way of Sai Darshan from his article ‘Sai Darshan in Shirdi’.

    Thanking You,
    Your Divine Brother

On the last day of our stay in Shirdi we brought some packets of Udi and we visited Khandoba Mandir and Dwarkamai. After that day we took a car and went to Pune & on the way we visited Bhimashankar Mandir. We took the train journey in Konark Express at 8:45 P.M. from Pune to come back to Bhubaneswar and reached safely.

  19. It must be a good experience, though I had not got that opportunity.

  20. Dr.Binod Bihari Naik says:

Once all on a sudden my mind took intense desire to foot step on the soil of SHIRDI the abode of Sai Baba. So I decided to proceed with my better half and the plan was succeeded when railway ticket of both was confirmed in third AC. Then hope of visit was materialized on 27th June`s journey and reached on 28th June at SAI RAM ASHRAM via Manmad rly station by hired taxis along with Dr Joshi, my PG mate and his wife. The place is very pleasant and to stay there is more palatable and comfortable. After quick refreshment we became overfed with free prasad day meal and then and there proceeded to Shinghnapur for Shani Darsan by Govt bus as if that was awaiting for us and returned to Shirdi at 7 PM after full divine visit of Shani God by bus. The bus journey was very economical and imparted a lot of esoteric experiences by conversation with local passengers. On Q line we had a satisfactory vision of Sai Baba shrine and able to get chance to offer rose flower near to his feet. Then took dinner prasad at Sai Prasadalaya and returned to rest-shed for good night sleep with determination and prayer for visit of Kakad Arati. That was also blessed fully when we left Ashram after full refreshment at 2 AM on 29th June and imbibed Baba`s Arati up-to 6A M incessantly with complete absorption and forgotten the self. Then took a light tiffin and proceeded by hired taxis to visit Ellora and along with we took chance to visit Jourti Ling Ghrishneswar and sleeping Hanuman. Thus completed the historical as well as mytho-spiritual visit and reached Shirdi at 6 PM and paid with devotion to Mukha Darshan. After delicious vegetarian dinner in South Indian Restaurant I had the night stay at Ashram and awakened with fresh and enjoyable dawn. Then prepared for return journey on 30th June and reached to Shirdi Rly station in stipulated time and by train reached Bargarh on 1st July, the Doctor`s day and resumed as usual regular duty.
