Sai Baba`s philosophy on Swadharma

One should perform karma by Swadharma i.e. own dharma. If you follow your dharma, you shall be redeemed of flaw and advance onwards in your lives. Do not try to follow paradharma i.e. other`s dharma. You may face problems if you take up other`s dharma.

Practice of Swadharma in truthful way gets one`s intellect sharpened and stabilized. Identify your temperaments and selflessly practice the requisite karma. That is precisely the karma you ought to follow. If you adopt Swadharma without selfishness, lot of good will occur to you, by way of fruition of your desires and thoughts and your life will be worthwhile and wholesome one.

Discussion:

There is more happiness in doing one`s own work even without excellence than in doing another`s duty well. Each one must try to understand his psycho-physical make-up and function in accordance with it. . We must play our part sincerely with optimum effort.  We might not have all the talents, but what is vital is not whether we are endowed with five talents or only one; but how diligently we have utilized the talent to produce the desired results.

  1. Very well said by Sainath Ji and observed and discussed by you.

The parents should get the child’s psychological temperament analyzed at the level of matriculation and put him in the stream of his temperament.
Person is happy and performs best in that stream.
Person should also be trained to remain creative and truthful.
A teacher by temperament will not be a good fighter and vice versa.

    Well done.

  2. Vinod Varma says:

Indeed, if every one does their Karma well; and refrain from interfering into that of others, world would be a better place for each one.

    “SrEyAn swadharmO viguNah, Para dharmathsvanuShThithaan
swadharmEni dhanam SrEyam, para dharmO bhayaa vahaha.”

  3. Getting Respect is not Honour.
Giving honour is Good Sense of Humour.

I can say here that Baba describes here Swadharma that If one can not respect his own dharma he can not be able to respect or honour to other’s.
Example: If one is unable to reach aerodrome field, he can not be able to travel through flight to get further destination.
Like that if somebody is unable to follow Swadharma, following of other’s is meaningless.

  4. Prakash Padhan says:

We should follow Sai Baba’s advice “perform karma by swadharma”.

It is more relevant in this age of globalisation when we follow paradharma i.e.dharma or activities of western countries.

I think Swadharma is most essential for every body to be ideal person.

In Bhagbad Gita also, it is said that “Swadharme nidhanam shreya, paradharmo bhayabah”.

  5. Nirakar Bishi says:

The Sai Baba’s philosophy on swadharma teaches us to perform works selflessly for the cause of total development without having aim of any return. This will help somebody to become a complete man.

  6. ashirbad purohit says:

    pranam mamu.
this is really great saying by sai baba.

every living being should follow thoughts coming from inwards ‘cuz god resides in everybody.following swadharma like being motivated& self-fullfilled keeping a high level commitment what ever we do ‘cuz self-fullfillment without commitment leads to complacency.

  7. V.Nageswara Rao says:

Sai Baba’s philosophy on Swadharma is definitely need to be learnt by all, the same is also clearly written in Bhagvadgita that, “In whatever dharma you are born, you should continue in the same dharma till died. If the dharma in which you are born may be worst, change of dharma is more crucial than any thing else.”

You have also righthly mentioned that ‘one should perform karma by Swadharma i.e. own dharma. If you follow your dharma, you shall be redeemed of flaw and advance onwards in your lives. Do not try to follow paradharma i.e. other`s dharma. You may face problems if you take up other`s dharma’.

This is in continuation to the above principle, any body can donate to any needy person if the donor is self-sufficient and capable enough to donate physically, mentally and economically; otherwise one can’t be a real donor.

Practice of Swadharma in truthful way gets one`s intellect sharpened and stabilized;and is applicable for each and every individual.

  8. Santhosh says:

The tree teaches us forbearence and tolerance.

It offers shade to all, irrespective of age, religion, nationality or status. It helps with fruits and shade even to a foe who lays his axe on its trunk. Just through its patience and forgiveness, it shows it is much more great than humans.

That is Swadharma of the Tree.

  9. Dr.Binod Bihari Naik says:

    Respected Sir,

I am happy to get liberty for commenting Swadharma, of course have to keep restriction to Sai Baba`s philosophy. In this context what I understand which I must divulge that; Swadharma means to reach own starting point of life journey without interruption on the way smoothly, safely and so to say steadily as human-being. Hence identify yourself as human-being is the first and foremost duty and then cultivate the real human nature and implement the same in the fields of God`s creation to make path clear on own journey. As such I appeal to myself and to all; should try and start today on wards with God`s given weapons viz. truth, righteousness, peace, love and non-violence and leave-asides all to be scaled yourself by others.

    With regards,
    Thanking you
