Spiritual Freedom

Swami Vivekananda told that “every being, every creature, seeks freedom; not that we are conscious of it, but that is the ultimate human impulse”.

Physically and mentally we can never attain freedom. The Laws of Cause and Effect govern us. There is an action and the result is a reaction. We are bound within our physical and mental dimensions identified with our body-mind complex. As long as we are limited as individual body-mind complex, the essence of freedom cannot be experienced.

We can only be able to experience the feelings, moods and essence of freedom in spirituality. We seek spiritual freedom to be aware of supreme consciousness. In search for spiritual freedom in human life, one needs guidance from a spiritual guru whose teachings are meant for all of humanity, irrespective of religion. To narrate my experience, I got attracted towards spiritual philosophy of Sadguru Sai Baba in my mental, emotional and intellectual planes; and I am leading the spiritual life as a devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba. By reading spiritual scriptures and texts, devoting time every day for spiritual practices and expressing my feelings and thoughts in writing through my articles on spirituality; I have been a seeker and searcher for spiritual freedom.

  1. Freedom is a complex philosophy; spiritual freedom is one of the ideas.

If one has to live, one needs somebody who povides us food. The needs, wishes, desires and view-points of the person who provides us food need to be accommodated over our ‘mental impulse of freedom’.The cycle of desires and environmental factors is endless and depends on individual’s personality and corresponding environments. One should be as logical in one’s thoughts and as free from one’s weaknesses as possible.

Thanks for sharing and love to sara.

  2. Freedom is nothing to more than aloneness.

I agree with the presentation of Dr.M.C.Panda.In each and every moment human being needs to be independent and running behind nothing for his or her whole life and finally gets nothing except “Spiritual Satisfaction” or in general “Moksha”.

Respected Panda Sir, I like your presentation very much.

  3. We are born free but always in chain. To break this chain it is mentioned in GITA about importance of bonafide guru .Taking shelter of a guru and complete surrender to GOD can lead to spiritual freedom.Lord Krishna himself was a disciple of Guru Sandipani. In Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says-“sarva dharman paritajya mamekam sharanam braja, ahom twam sarva papebhyo mokshyayishyami ma socha”.

Guru na kale tu arjuna, kanhu paibu sadagyana.

  4. Vinod Varma says:

Everything in the external world is transient, but our mind tends on hold onto these and inevitably binds us with these. It all disappears as ego disappears. But ego can disappear only when mind is quiet, stable and under control. I believe no one else but Guru can help one achieve this. No wonder our heritage has put so much of importance to role of Guru in self-realization,and ultimate freedom.

tatah kim, tatah kim, tatah kim,…

What use is fame abroad or respect in own place as the most noble, unless mind devoted in humility at the feet of Guru?

    Om Sai Ram

The article on spiritual freedom is indeed a unique one and express its meaning in itself. Aristotle, the Greek philosopher remarked that “man is born free but every where he is in chains” and in order to escape from that abided social chains one should devote & succumb himself before the Chakradhari to have both mental peace, physical relief and healthy life in the mortal world.

Your guidance will always guide us in the day to day path of living.

    Yours Sincerely
    Chandra Kumar Panda

  6. Kedarnath Sahu says:

Freedom is not a thing which can be sold or purchased by human being.

Really Sir, your article will guide the new incoming generation who have already been polluted with the existing society and who always want their freedom. So far my knowledge is concerned, a human being can not find out his freedom unless until SAMARPANA (sacrifices) his life before God as human want is unlimited.

    Yours Sincerely
    Kedarnath Sahu

  7. V.Nageswar Rao says:

    Dear Sir,
    Namaskar & Nuakhai Juhar.

The article Spiritual Freedom is definitely a learning one how to lead healthy life with meditation, loneliness independently and to keep up physical and mental peace.

  8. During interaction of views via emails about Yoga and Spirituality:

    I wrote to SriVee Sriram-
The Self can not be gained only by the study of Vedas, nor by intellect, nor by learning.“Be raised by self alone; for self alone is self`s true friend. The self who has conquered self, that alone is the friend of self”.

    SriVee Sriram replied-
Awe inspiring words! This resonates the true essence of KrShna’s Great words.

    • SriVee says:

      Respected Sir,
Nice to see that Quote published for every one to view! It’s like a nut shell and am sure it would definitely initiate thinking process for many who won’t know that this small quote (as small a nut’s shell) could actually explain a greater aspect and the real nature of a soul, it’s inherent relationship with the supreme….
      Regards, Sri

  9. Arvind Verma says:

Freedom from ideology, freedom from the past is most important.

Spiritual freedom is vital. This is the era of spiritual freedom.Freedom from the past, Freedom from Veda, Freedom from the dead persons, Freedom from Gita,Bible,Quran etc., Freedom from the old dialogue of the Swami Vivekananda, Krishna, Jesus. These old dialogues and old quotes killed the spirit of the real spirituality of the land.

    • Sadguru Sai Baba in His Discourse on Brahma-gnyan has said:

The knowledge of the self is so subtle and mystic that, no one can by his own individual effort ever hope to attain. So the help of another person-teacher, who has himself got self-realization, is absolutely necessary. What others can not give with great efforts and pains can be easily gained with the help of such a teacher, for he has walked on the path himself and can easily take the disciple step by step on the ladder of spiritual progress.

  10. Sir,

Everyone is born free. As we grow, the knowledge, experience gained keeps us binding with what we come across. So our freedom is lost. But we are not able to recognise it. Even we are not aware of it. A revolution is required to generate awareness on this issue. We come across many sages in the human history. But no change we observe in our day to day life. So it is utmost requirement to find out what is lacking in us. Let the understanding grows. Let the revolution take place, otherwise the teaching will be limited to knowledge only. Let it take place under your leadership.
