Spiritual Quest

It depends on the individual which goal he is looking to achieve: one that relates to the physical body (materialism) or the other one that relates to the soul (spirituality). It is the mind which is the guiding light in our spiritual quest. We should look upon it as a great fortune that for some reason or other, if our mind possesses an attraction for the higher goal of spirituality.Of course, we have to steadily proceed in the spiritual path with perseverance to achieve the spiritual goal.

Leading a worldly life, no one can by his own individual effort ever hope to attain spiritual goal. So the help of another person-teacher or guru, who has himself got self-realization, is absolutely necessary. The guru, who has walked on the path himself, can easily take the disciple step by step on the ladder of spiritual progress. As a Shirdi Sai devotee, I have been following the teachings of Sadguru Sai Baba in my spiritual quest.

  1. One should work till life ends.
Both materialistic and spiritualistic goals are important.

God is who spends His life in best possible way on this earth in His circumstances.

I feel like enjoying life as much as I can, while helping others; but not at the cost of others.Living a happy and useful life is best for me.

    Goodavidyaa Jaganmaayaa Dehashchaajnaanasambhavah
    Vijnaanam Yatprasssdena Gurusabdena Kathayate

Deep ignorance and worldly illusion are caused by identification of Self as body. The kindness provides the true realization is called Guru.

    Gukssraschssndhakaaro Hi Rukaarastecha Uchyate
    Ajnaanagrsssakam Brahma Gurureva Na Samsayah

The letter Gu represents darkness and the letter Ru represents light. Beyond any traces of doubt, (it is obvious that) Guru is the supreme (Brahma) that dispels darkness (ignorance and illusion) and leads to light (realization of Self).

Happy to hear the word Quest after a long time. According to your statement you are following the teachings of Sadguru Sai Baba in your spiritual quest. Here I have recalled my understanding about quest and as per my knowledge and the training I have received from Health link World wide in the year 2006 and also utilized the learnings of training that, Quest is a dynamic methodology and approach to develop any kind of Material including the Health Education Material in an innovative way with the concern of particular area specific people and the target groups.

The Step by Step process includes:
    1. Which consists of Identification of needs, need based/ local specific material designing with the invovlement of the people from different communities of that particular area.
    2. Practical field pre-testing of the material, based on the people’s acceptance.
    3. Development of the material with necessary modifications.
    4. Post-testing of the designed material and based on People’s Feedback.
    5. Finally development and usage of the required material for the purpose to create awareness on particular health problem or any area concern based on need.

Sir, You have also mentioned that steadily proceeding in the spiritual path with perseverance to achieve the spiritual goal can also be a Quest. Please clear my doubt regarding the exact meaning of Quest in General and in Yoga and Spirituality.

It is true that we can not attain ultimate spirituality by own; we need to follow a Sadguru who will show us the path to reach spiritual pursuit. However, we must have to be open and faithful; Sincere aspirants can never afford to neglect or overlook this vital truth of spiritual life and realization.

    Dear Sir,

I read the above topic & found that your view is absolutely correct about a guide for spiritual quest because no one can see in the darkness without a torch; so also in the ephemeral world how to see the soul without a realised guru. Hence everybody should be in search of a realised guru to remain away from worldly bondage .Then only one can get the esoteric experience of spirituality.

    Thanking you,
    Yours Sincerely

  12. In order to get access to the emperor, one needs to recognize and supplicate before the emperor’s representative. God’s representative within human psyche is ‘I’. One has to explore one’s ‘I’ first. Where to encounter one’s ‘I’ ? If we trace back to every thought that occurs to us, we shall find that there invariably is the presence of ‘I’ there. The root and kernel of every thought is ‘I’. Once we succeed in spotting the ‘I’, we can look upon it with the attitude of appreciation. Thus doing, one day the gate shall open and we get access to our beloved God. Our individual ‘I’ truly is the gateway to God.
