Activating Brain by Silence of Mind

The mind controls the activities of physical brain. Scientists say there is a primitive mind and a developed mind. The medulla oblongata, lower part of the brain, is called the primitive mind because it is responsible for basic thoughts. When the mind is engaged in worldly thoughts one cannot think of anything beyond; because the mind can only think of one thing at a time. When does one silence his mind, higher centres of the brain can be activated.

Silence gives rise to deeper thoughts and knowledge. Sages and saints, seers and seekers, in all ages and places, have sat in deep silence in order to search profound truth of life. In the depth of that silence the light of knowledge dawned on them.

Generally ancient wisdom is kept away from the realm of scientific knowledge. Glad to see this post connecting both; that is scientific approach of objective and repeatable analysis to see truth and ancient wisdom which is rich with true realization of truth.

  2. Dr.Binod Bihari Naik says:

    Respected Sir,

Activating brain by silence of mind is very captivating topic in Yoga & Spirituality to train the mind to keep under control as brain is the seat of mind faculty. To catch up the idea one should imagine the wave-less ocean, where he sails his boat safely and enjoys the beauty of marvelous mighty ocean; so also by silence of mind one enriches his intellect and withdraws the senses from external stimuli and makes the body still, then transgresses the ego and finally as in-dweller in the body- mind complex transcends with help of molded intellect and feels solace in life. This is called austere life of an individual. When he reaches to that level, always remains adhered to truth, righteousness, peace, love and non-violence. This is called Divine Life Cycle of one`s own and when it ends one is subjected to merge in cosmic soul and no chance of return ; means no birth , that is free from bondage called “NIRVANA”.

    With regards and thanks

    Dear Sir,
    Namaskar.

The Article “Activating Brain by Silence of Mind” is a nice article and the learning for me from this article is: It’s essential to maintain silence sometime every day to activate the Brain for better functioning. The Brain and Mind both are very soft and sensitive. How better we can differentiate the Brain and Mind and each other`s functioning for a common man’s point of view?

    Thanking You.

    • Brain is the organ of the body which processes our thoughts and creates reasoning, while mind is the consciousness of having a particular thought. The brain is a physical organ while mind is a more philosophical concept.

  4. Madan Goyal says:

Brain function is a very complex system involving neurology and psychology. So called primitive and advanced brain is in fact division of work in various centres of brain. Basic functions of any individual or animal like breathing, heart beat and body balancing etc. are controlled by so called primitive centres. These functions are common to animal world and can’t be subjected to conscious control. Functions of thought processing and thought generation are highly developed in human beings. Emotions are also there in all animal worlds, though its development has varied to a large extent. Silence provides an opportunity for the brain to stop expression and related involvement so that rest of the brain may work better for internal coordination/ development and research etc.

  5. Prakash Padhan says:

Perhaps every creature has brain but human being has developed brain. We possess mind because we have developed brain which is lacking in animal. That’s why human being is the greatest creation of God.

In Odia Bhagabata it is said-
“Sarva sharira madhye sara, durlabha nara kalebara.
Aneka janma punya phale, manava janma mahi tale.”

Silence of mind leads to meditation which leads to activating brain. Like sages, Siddharth used this 6 years and became Buddha. Mahatma Gandhi was used to observe silence( mouna brata).

There is a proverb,”Speech is silver, but silence is golden”.

I read your article ‘Activating Brain by Silence of Mind’ posted on July 16, 2013 which teaches us, “Speech is silver, but silence is golden”. Your article shows the most valuable requirement for the human being regarding the importance of ‘Silence’. It is really an experimental theory of our life, when we face the problem with puzzled mind only ‘Silence’ can solve the matter and to decide the right decision. Silence is one type of yoga related to our mind.

Definitely this article will have good impact for the society.I praise and appreciate your thoughts and feelings.

    Sir
    Namaskar.

Really ‘Activating Brain by Silence of Mind’ is an article which clearly describes about one type of yoga of human being which is already experimented by Rishi and Muni (saints) of our country as well as by Swami Vivekananda to Mahatma Gandhi. Recently some people like you are on that noble path of our country. With Mahunta Sir we have discussed more than an hour relating to this topic “silence”. We found that it is such a yoga which can control the whole human part by our Brain. A nice article for us to prepare our self for a healthy decision “silence” is the ultimate thing.

  8. Umesh says:

    Respected Brother,
    Pranam.

Activating brain by silence of mind is a very very Interesting topic. As Mind is such a thing that can’t be controlled so easily. By continuous practice it can be controlled & put it in to silence form. All spiritual practice is for control of Mind. When mind is controlled, silence appears on whole physical brain & then the higher centres of the brain power get activated.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Umesh

  9. Santhosh says:

Mind is repository of thoughts, it will be working all the time, even in the sleep state as well. The way to lead a happy life is to purify the thoughts and select only those thoughts which will enable the progress of our life and help not to get into the shackles of the bad thoughts and become slaves of them. The methods like Prayer, Meditation help us get rid of the negative thoughts and the mind to focus on the positiveness always and in turn makes us happy and our life a fruitful and successful one. To put in nutshell, it is the thoughts which makes us decide what we are, and have to be careful always to select the positive thoughts.

Sai bless all with the positive thoughts and to lead a wondrous life.

    Pranam kaka,

Activating brain by silence of mind is a nice article. The brain is the body’s control centre. It enables us to think and regulates all our body processes. The most complex part of the body which receives information and sends out instructions constantly definitely needs something to be activated and for better functioning. Silence of mind is the best way to keep it active. Energy and power of mind is stimulated by silence of mind.

Hope you and kakima are enjoying in U.S.A.
