Niagara is in the far western part of New York State, USA and includes the Niagara Falls area. The county is just north of Buffalo and has a border with Canada.
I along with my wife Sailasuta who is accompanying me as a visitor and second daughter Gayatri & son-in-law Saikrishna, grandson Arnav & granddaughter Maulika residing in New York, NY 10029 United States left New York City on a tourist trip to Niagara USA by bus with a tourist guide in morning hours of August 31, 2013. On arrival in Niagara, first we visited The Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant on afternoon of August 31, 2013 which is a hydroelectric power station producing hydroelectricity utilizing the power of river water of Niagara River. We also visited Old Fort Niagara on the same day which is a United States National Historic Landmark and New York State Historic Site. It offers a unique collection of original military architecture and fortifications from the 18th Century and the 19th Century, as well as living history events and programs, historical exhibits and collections, archaeology, and education. The fort played an important role in the struggles of France, Great Britain, and the United States to control the Great Lakes region of North America, and also helped shape subsequently Niagara River as natural borderline between the two countries of United States of America and Canada. In evening we enjoyed the colorful live show of ‘A Native Journey into the Spirit of the Mist’ performed by Smokin Joes Native Center Niagara Falls, USA. We had a colorful scenic night view of Niagara Falls on night of August 31, 2013 in The State Park of Niagara Falls. We made night halt in a hotel in nearby city of Buffalo.
On September 1, 2013 in morning hours on arriving Niagara Falls State Park, I noticed that a group of yoga practitioners were having their practice of asana and pranayama under the guidance of a yoga instructor on the open lawn by the river-lake side which confirmed my assumption that yoga is as popular in United States as in India. We had Maid of the Mist boat ride on forenoon of September 1, 2013. A historical ride aboard the world-famous Maid of the Mist is a half hour thrill of a lifetime! It is North America’s oldest tourist attraction; millions of visitors have enjoyed the boat tours since 1846. We witnessed the intensity of the Falls from a little away from the Falls and the powerful churning of waters at the base of the Falls. We were excited as water rushed all around & we got soaked with water and heard the roaring sound of the Falls. We returned from Niagara tourist trip on evening of September 1, 2013 back to New York City.
