Concept of Global Village in Virtual and Real World

The concept of global village in virtual world arises out of the Internet and World Wide Web. On the Internet, physical distance is not a hindrance to the real-time communicative activities of people, and therefore social spheres are greatly expanded by the openness of the web and the ease at which people can search for online communities and interact with others who share the same interests and concerns. Therefore, this technology fosters the idea of a global community. Increased speed of communication and the ability of people to read and react encourage us to become more involved with one another from various social groups and countries around the world. Similarly, web-connected computers enable people to link their web sites together.

It has been 5 years+ of my Internet exposure since I created my ID in G mail on April 15, 2008 which is my first exposure to Internet. I created my own blog Yoga and Spirituality in the website of on May 2, 2010. I registered my name as a user in social networking website Facebook on June 15, 2011. I had my first experience as user of information technology residing in Gurgaon, Harayana (N.C.R. Delhi) being able to connect with other users through internet residing in different places of world in World Wide Web. When I had to relocate to Bangalore subsequently, I need not have to relocate my user name with change of place. I could strongly sense the existence of global village in virtual world when I moved from Bangalore, India to New York, USA as a visitor tourist from July 30, 2013 to October 1, 2013 and could contact other users retaining my user name.

During my recent visit to US from July 30, 2013 to October 1, 2013, on September 28, 2013 I visited The United Nations (U.N.) Headquarters International Territory in New York City. I viewed General Assembly Hall, UN Secretariat & Embassies of different Nations as a visitor to US of Indian Nationality. The General Assembly was in session on the date of my visit. Political Heads participating in discussion of bilateral and international issues, people working in UN Secretariat & Representatives in Embassies of different Nations gave me the feeling of global village in real world in the International Territory of United Nations.

It is needless to say that Yoga and Spirituality has its global presence in moral world.

You are right that internet has added to the manner in which people can communicate with each other and it has widened the area of communication to whole globe. For that matter every new development changes life and activities on this globe in its own way. Evolution is relatively faster now and may gain further momentum in coming years. Every generation is carrying a big gap from the previous one and it is becoming difficult to keep pace with all the changes. There are so many subjects, which are endlessly developing and settled knowledge of each subject is turning out to be essential general knowledge for every body. General life of everybody is affected by all these changes and many people lag behind in this pace of communication while others develop features of stress because of same. Overall internet is definitely a positive development and great achievement of science.

  5. Dr.Binod Bihari Naik says:

    Respected Sir,

Speedy development of humanity depends upon by cultivating knowledge from different peoples residing world wide . It is only possible by persons who have keen interest from self development to whole humanity at a large for healthy and happy lively hood. I think this is the concept of global village rendered by United Nations. Back to Techno-Era it was in dreaming stage, because messages were transmitted by persons ,pigeons, postal, telegraphs, radio and televisions though it was stepping stone of development of knowledge still not like that of internet which revolutionized the mode of communication. Definitely Internet squeezes world-boundary and has broken individual mental boundary to convert one mental cell to unite with statutory eternal spiritual cell. This is what we are awaiting in evolution of science to end in spirituality.

Thanks for your vivid description of concept of global village in virtual and real world.

You have rightly mentioned about global village. The whole world is small now like a village. It is possible due to communication revolution in last decade. One can be in touch with another in every moment due to internet. We knew about your visit to U.S.,your articles/photo/events etc. of U.S. very easily through net.

It is true. In this techno world people want everything fast so internet gives them the platform to communicate to the whole world.People can talk to each other, share their experiences, make friends and lots more through these social websites. Wherever they are, distance doesn’t matter.Through Facebook you have communicated to all your friends during your staying in USA and shared your experiences. This is possible due to the modern technology.
