Shirdi Sai Baba Encouraging Good Thoughts to Fruition

As described in Chapter XVIII & XIX of Shri Sai Satcharita, “It is interesting to note that how Sai Baba encouraged good thoughts. You have to surrender yourself completely to Him with love and devotion and then you will see how He helps you, through out.

Some saint has said that, when you get a good thought, immediately after awakening from sleep, and if you develop the same afterwards during the day, your intellect will be unfolded and your mind will attain calmness. Hemadpant wanted to try this. One Wednesday night before going to bed, he thought “Tomorrow is Thursday-an auspicious day and the place, viz. Shirdi is so holy; so, let me pass the whole day in remembering and celebrating Ram-naam”, and then, he slept off. Next morning when he got up he remembered without any effort, the name of Ram and was much pleased. After finishing his morning duties, he went to see Baba with flowers. When he left Dixit Wada and was passing by Buti Wada he heard a beautiful song, that was being sung nicely by one Aurangabadkar in the Masjid, before Baba. The song was “Guru-kripanjan payo mere bhai” etc. by Eknath, in which he says that ‘he got collyrium in the form of his Guru`s grace which opened his vision and made him see Ram, in and out, in sleep, dream and waking state and everywhere’. There were so many songs but why was this song particularly chosen by Aurangabadkar, a devotee of Baba? Is this not a curious coincidence arranged by Baba to amplify the determination of Hemadpant to sing unceasingly Ram-naam during the day?”

All saints agree and lay stress upon the efficacy of uttering Ram`s (God`s) name, in fulfilling the ambitions of the Bhaktas and in protecting and saving them from all calamities.

  2. Madan Goyal says:

Encouraging good thoughts, repetitive recall, listening to spiritual music and getting immersed in a particular stream of thought; is all a part of remembering God as embodiment of good. Anybody who continuously remembers and practices God is a devotee. If person’s basic needs are fulfilled and person does not have any other positive agenda then devotion is best way to use available time. Saints are devoted to God and it is natural that everything in their environment is Godly.

  3. Prakash Padhan says:

Noble thoughts directly proportional to noble deeds.Thought is the seed of satkarma. Complete surrender on lotus feet of God is mentioned in GITA-“Sarva dharman paritajya mamekam saranam braja….”after which naturally noble thoughts come into mind.

  5. Dr.Binod Bihari Naik says:

    Respected Sir,

The cause is God and effect is creation and we are in the whirlpool of that field with assignment for purposeful duty to sustain the norm of His desire. All creations except the true human are in clutches of birth and death circle. Then who is true human being? The answer is very simple to utter but difficult to become, one has to be free from birth & death cycle called realization of self. That is formless of own called ATMA( Individual soul). Every human being with advancement of his journey has forgot real path and is sidetracking.Hence God descends as form to monitor called Avatar to rail them all as in case of Shirdi Sai happened to His closed devotees like Hamadpant and others.Hence every one here, to learn that noble thought is a way of merger to Divine supreme soul.So to become divine nature one has to follow the “3D” that`s Duty by Hand, Discipline by Heart, and Determination by Head a combination and co-ordination of “3H” called human being; on deepest analysis of H that is the combination of three bars called I(Individual Soul).

    With Regards,
    Your Divine Brother
