Rejuvenation of Spiritual, Intellectual, Professional and Social Values in Odisha Trip

Shree Shirdi Sai Mandir Padampur Dist Bargarh

I had my recent vacation trip to my native state Odisha for a fortnight from October 25, 2014 to November 9, 2014. During the Odisha trip I visited Bhubaneswar, Capital City of Odisha and different places of my native district Bargarh.

I had Darshan of Shirdi Sai Baba in Padampur Dist. Bargarh on October 29, 2014. I had the privilege of attending Madhyan Arati in Shree Shirdi Sai Mandir Padampur. I had Darshan of ISKCON temple in Bhubaneswar and Lord Nrusinghanath at Nrusinghanath Paikmal, Nilakantheswar Mandir Nilji Bhatli, Shri Dadhibaban Mahaprabhu Bhatli & Shri Shyamji Mandir Bhatli in Bargarh district during my recent Odisha trip.

I had the opportunity of historical site seeing of Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves in Bhubaneswar along with my grandson Satyajit on October 27, 2014. The twin hills of Udayagiri and Khandagiri contain excavated rock cut caves. There are altogether 18 caves in Udayagiri and 15 caves in Khandagiri hill. These caves were excavated by Kharavela and his successors in 1st Century B.C. which continued till 10th – 11th Century A.D. These caves represent images of Jaina cult prevailing at that time. We visited Regional Science Centre (National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) Pt.J.L.Nehru Marg, Bhubaneswar-751013 same day October 27, 2014 afternoon. We visited Physics (Motion) and Mathematics Gallery in Regional Science Centre Bhubaneswar. I was impressed with Illustrative Diagrams relating to Biophysics of Bolus Movement, Movement in Joints and Blood Circulation displayed in Physics (Motion) Gallery. I visited the Regional Museum of Natural History, Acharya Vihar, Bhubaneswar on November 7, 2014. I was accompanied by my grandson Satyajit. While visiting the gallery of Bio-Diversity, I got to know many interesting things about the natural living beings, ores and minerals. I gained knowledge about the lakes, the sanctuaries and the wetlands present in the state of Odisha. The most interesting things I saw were the skeletons of Elephant (Shankar) and Baleen Whale which were unique.

I visited one college and two UG High Schools in Bargarh district during the trip. I was felicitated and honoured as Chief Convener & Founder Member, Panchayat Samiti College Gaisilat Dist. Bargarh (Est.July 2, 1984 ) in a special function organized by Principal, Staff & Students on October 30, 2014 during my visit to Bargarh district in my recent Odisha trip. During visit to RKUG High School Buromunda Gaisilat Dist. Bargarh on October 30, 2014 afternoon I talked on America Diary based on my experiences gained in my visit to United States of America in 2013. I attended Prize Distribution Ceremony of Nab Jeeban Samaj organised by Subarna Deepa (a bimonthly children magazine published from Bargarh) celebrating Golden Jubilee of Oriya poem of Madhu Babu “Tuma pari chota pilatia”..at U.G High School, Lebidi, Sohela, Dist. Bargarh ,Odisha on October 31,2014 as Chief Guest and I talked on America Diary to share my experiences gained in my visit to United States of America with Teachers, Students & Guests attending the function.

I shared the pleasure of meeting my old professional colleagues in Odisha during the trip. I met Dr. Krishna Chandra Sith, Retd. Joint Director of Health Services ( Medical ), Odisha at Bhubaneswar, Present C.D.M.O. Bargarh Dr Prakash Pradhan in CDMO Office Bargarh, Dr Binod Bihari Naik Retd. Sr. Surgery Specialist (Jt. DHS Level II) and Dr Subal Kishor Kar Retd. Sr. Eye Specialist (Jt. DHS Level II) Bargarh in Bargarh, Dr S.K.Sahu Retd.M.O. I/C C.H.C. Sohela & Sri M.S.Mahunta Retd. B.E.E. C.H.C. Sohela at Sohela, Dr B.B.Mahanta M.O. in Paikmal on the way to Nrusinghanath Dist. Bargarh and L.A. Khan X’Ray Technician S.D.H. Padampur at Padampur Dist. Bargarh. The National Urban Health Mission was launched in 2013-2014 which has provision of selection, training and engagement of ASHAs in Urban area in the country’s march towards Universal Health Coverage. However ASHAs of Bargarh Municipality were selected, trained and engaged by District Health Mission Bargarh under National Rural Health Mission (N.R.H.M.) under my direct guidance and supervision as C.D.M.O. Bargarh 3days prior to my retirement in last week of February 2008 who have been providing health care services in Bargarh Municipality since more than 6 years. I consider this as my extraordinary achievement in providing health care service at grass root level ahead of other urban bodies in Bargarh Municipality. I was felicitated and honoured by ASHAs Bargarh Municipality on November 4, 2014 during my visit to Bargarh district during the trip.

I attended two family functions in my recent Odisha trip. I attended celebration of 6th Birth Anniversary of my Granddaughter Sanjana held on October 25, 2014 in Bhubaneswar and Annaprasanna of Abha daughter of my friend Kedarnath Sahu resident of Sohela celebrated at Nrusinghanath Temple Dist. Bargarh on November 2, 2014. I met my nephew Rajesh & niece-in-law Puspa in Bhubaneswar and younger brother Umesh in Padampur, cousin brother Dillip & his octogenarian mother Padma nana at Buromunda Gaisilat, younger sister Tanuja & brother-in-law Umashankar at Melchhamunda & brother-in-law Sudhir at Godbhaga in Bargarh district. I enjoyed the company of two kids during my 10 days camping at Sohela Dist. Bargarh in my friend Madhusudan Mahunta’s Guest House namely ‘Happy’ & ‘Bibhu’ who fondly call me Grand Uncle. I also enjoyed the company of my grandson Satyajit & granddaughter Sanjana during my stay at my nephew Rajesh`s residence and while visiting Indira Gandhi Park in Bhubaneswar.

I had a pleasant vacation trip from October 25, 2014 to November 9, 2014 visiting different places of Bargarh district & Bhubaneswar in my native state Odisha which rejuvenated my spiritual, intellectual, professional and social values.

  9. After your America Diary, now knew about your Odisha Diary. Transit from place to place, meeting person to person reflects that you got peace, satisfaction, enjoyment. I am nostalgic as I was working in Lepra India Bargarh during your tenure as C.D.M.O. Bargarh. I am one among your admirers because you have played many roles in your life like establishment of college, administrator, manager, clinician, social worker, etc. You are not like other doctors who lost their lives in living/earning.

  10. Respected Sir,
    Namaskar.

A nice article regarding the recent Odisha Trip. A nice work which shows the social as well as cultural activities of you.The spiritual activities have become a part of your life which have been focused in your visit.Though you are a Shishya of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba, as a person belonging to Hindu religion you had Darshan of Lord Shiba Baba at Niljee of Bhatli, Sri Dhadhibamana of Bhatli which is known as the Western Shri Kshetra of Odisha. At Bhatli you also spared some moment at Sri Shyamjee Mandir where the Birthday of Sri Shyam Baba was celebrated. As an educationist you had not forgotten to give some valuable advice to the college students and the high school students of your home district Bargarh during your visit. In your journey sharing your life style achievements by the young teachers highly impressed me.The advice given by you is quite memorable for me. You have the power to solve all type of problems which I think it would have been due to only the blessing of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba. A perfect journey by you which gave us the inspiration to be perfect in our life. It was a great pleasure to spend some valuable time with you which was memorable for me. I am personally obliged to you to have attended ‘Annaprasanna’ of my daughter Abha at Nrusinghanath Temple on November 2, 2014 which you have been kind enough to mention in your article. Lastly I wish your good health and waiting for the next Odisha trip.

    Pranam kaka,

A brief description regarding your Odisha trip. You have met many of your friends and family members during your trip that creates memories of your lifetime and these memories will create a bond between you and family , friends and society. A person like you who served the society during your working period and continuing the noble work through internet also after post retirement is really inspiring. You have generated an increase in positive energy and feelings by visiting all these places and the people you have met through all the events and functions.

  23. Thanks to Dr.Mahesh Chandra Panda who never neglected friends and society along with social activities. Neglecting such activities by politicians may not be comfortable for citizens to elect them as leaders. A student neglecting his co-curricular activities even by teachers may not be entitled to build the nation even by getting a post of administration by their bookish knowledge. Thanks to Subhash Chandra Bose who was engaged in social activities in student life.

  24. When I guide my daughter for teaching her daughter the learning process at the age of 1 year 11 month 15 days to teach numbers and letters, many tools such as books, U tube for numbers and letters even a special baby computer is provided. But she succeed the same in a better way by physical exercise, dancing process by using her position for every number or letter. She never approaches me to guide by any tool but my activities for mass drill and dance activities in which both grand father and grand daughter are physically sound in home along with our essential task. Let such activities be practicable for such little kids by their grand parents.

  25. This year I could not visit Odisha in my annual trip during the month of November 2015 due to my physical indisposition. You may read my article God is my Healer published on November 1, 2015 in Yoga and Spirituality.

Super narration. While reading l felt as if I also traveled the places with u and with an expert guide. Besides the statistics of person, place and time are also amazing.

  29. V Chandra Sekhar says:

    Pranams Dr.Pandaji.

Just read your article depicting your visits to so many various places & meeting so many people during your brief 2 weeks’ visit to Odisha. Starting with your darshan of Shirdi Saibaba temple in Padampur, & Iskcon temple & thereafter your historic visits to Udayagiri & Khandagiri caves. It was exhilarating to read that you had also visited Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneshwar. Your grandson Satyajit is very lucky to have a grandfather like you who is a multifaceted personality. He would have gained rich experience by accompanying you to Gallery of Bio-Diversity & fascinated at seeing the skeletons of the elephant & Baleen whale. Also, so many of your former professional colleagues, friends & near and dear ones must have felt rejuvenated by your visit & all those you had occasion to meet. More importantly, instead of just sitting back & relaxing, it is noteworthy that you have utilised your short visit to the fullest. It made fascinating reading.
