Adhyatmikta, Spirituality deals with Atman, Spirit.

Adhyatmikta, spirituality, means that which deals with ‘what is within man’-the atman. It deals with Spirit or Self or atman which is divine, holy and immortal. Spirituality, thus, is the process of manifestation of this inherent divinity and holiness. Spirituality is the method through which one learns, and succeeds, in overcoming his lower nature which is characterised by attachment, greed, lust, egoism, jealousy and so on. With his mind transformed by spiritual practices such as prayer, worship, japa, dhyana, reading scriptures, chanting of hymns, singing of bhajans, seva, selfless action, and so on, a spiritual aspirant succeeds in attenuating his lower nature. When one`s lower nature is subdued, one`s higher nature reflects divinity in all his actions.

It depends on the individual which goal he is looking to achieve: one that relates to the physical body (materialism) or the other one that relates to the Self or Spirit (spirituality). It is the mind which is the guiding light in our spiritual quest. We should look upon it as a great fortune that for some reason or other, if our mind possesses an attraction for the higher goal of spirituality. Of course, we have to steadily proceed in our spiritual quest with perseverance to achieve the spiritual goal.

An individual born into this world is supposed to live for fulfilling four objectives which are called purusharthas in our scriptures. These are dharma, artha, kama and moksha. Dharma is learning the righteous ways of living; artha is earning one`s living; kama is fulfilling one`s legitimate desires by honest and righteous means. Moksha, the last and the spiritual objective is to be perceived by exploring spirituality to seek who, how and why of creation; and find out the way of spirit within self known as soul to finally merge with the supreme soul so that it need not come back to same world again.

We can only be able to experience the feelings, moods and essence of freedom in spirituality. We seek spiritual freedom to be aware of atman.

    Respected Sir,

The topic is very simple to tongue but one never becomes satiated till last breath. Hence I will try to convince my own perception regarding Adhyatmikta the spiritual perversance. But I never mind of individual taste of spirituality. God Himself is empty but pervaded as energy or power called supreme soul or cosmic soul that is visible as universe with no dimensions. Within universe for its sustenance there are so many cohesion òf active and inactive with same forces which is known to creator only. But out of all creations the last and latest creation is designated a human who can only gulf and explore the design of God by many ways and means that is called scientific and spiritual. The former is static and never free ,never grapses its origin called demonic where as the later is continuous and free called divine ,reach the origin. As such each human is an individual soul and divine one only can feel its true nature and can build equanimity of all creation to substance the universe, the productive base of God for incessant continuity. This process is called adhyatmikta or spirituality. Hence one who delves into it can know; it is called Sadhana.

    With regards and thanks

  2. Thanks for referral. Spirituality involving life after death or account presentation with Dharam Raj by Atma is a complicated philosophy. I don’t believe in it. I believe in current life and working only for this life. Why did we came and purpose of life, too are beyond my comprehension. I relish living in present, being truthful to present companions.

    Pranam kaka,

This article is a clear description of a human life, its journey and the relationship between spirituality and soul. Spirituality means pertaining to the soul. It is a process of leading the total energy in the body to the soul, only the soul is the absolute ultimate truth. As the journey of life belongs to us as a soul Atman, the spirit within gets effected by the fruits of karma performed by every human being as the body-mind always belong to us. By offering fruits of karma performed to God Almighty all the time, human beings finally surrender their ego on altar of God. We can never truly understand the definition of spirituality unless we understand that we are not a human body alone that shall wither and die, we shall continue living the spiritual path until end of journey.

Golden lines. If a human being adhere to your narration, there is only bliss. But it is very difficult to follow 100% in the material world. Having the lines in mind itself will definitely bring prosperity in life. Thanks ji for giving this wonderful knowledge.

    Namaste Dr.Pandaji,

Your article “Adhyatmikta, Spirituality deals with Atman, Spirit” is very enlightening, but for a layman like me, in spite of the best of efforts, I am of the opinion that, in practicality, I will find it very difficult to comply with all the points touched upon by you. I shall keep trying until I am able to succeed in my endeavour at least to a certain extent.

    • Thanks Sekharji for his valuable comment on the article ‘Adhyatmikta, Spirituality deals with Atman, Spirit’. A nice article which enlighted about the real thought of a Sadhu. A topic which is really the reality of human being. Starting from birth to death we are in a race but I think Atma of ourselves are always in the path of God. Busy man full of workload cannot understand this reality why myself took birth in this world because they are not in the appropriate way of life. I think perhaps there might be some network problem between Atma and the busy mind of human being. This critical concept had been observed by Sadhu which they achieved as the real goal in their life through Yoga and Spirituality.

Extremely sorry sir for delay in giving comment. Earlier I have posted my comment but may be technical error or something there it could not reach you.

Soul is immortal but body is mortal. Both soul and body coexist, so divine soul needs healthy body. Spirituality with spiritual practices is badly necessary for higher awareness. With moksha, jivanmukta is necessary simultaneously. This is your good and relevant article as your blog name is yoga & spirituality.

  8. Madhusudan Mahunta says:

Spirituality develops discipline and right way of living. Spiritual thought leads the society in right path. Your article is learnable for all human beings. I hope you write such type of article for the benefit of the society.I appreciated your thought with your article.

    Dear Sir,

The above article enlightens us about the goal of life and the Karmas to be followed on the path to Moksha. But in the current era we become materialistic and we are searching happiness through it; we should not stress only on Artha Karma. Spirituality is the only way of real happiness.

    Om Sai Ram.
