Count Your Blessings by Charity

Charity is basically providing drinking water, food, clothes and shelter which are primary needs of life to the distressed and needy persons. Charity need not only be monetary; in broader sense, it can also be giving one`s time, talent, knowledge, technique and service to those who need it without expecting anything in return from the beneficiaries.

I and my wife after my retirement as C.D.M.O. Bargarh Orissa on February 29, 2008 preferred to stay in a joint family with our offspring than to stay as a nuclear family at our native place in our old age for better physical, mental and emotional support in a joint family set up. After residing for one year in Gurgaon, Haryana (N.C.R. Delhi), we relocated to Bangalore, Karnataka. However I had to leave my comfort zone of leading life with friends, relatives and old colleagues in my native place, district and state of Odisha where I was having a worthy social recognition as a professional doctor amongst the public. Consequent upon my extra-ordinary decision, I had to lead my post retirement life in a completely changed social setup having only company of own family members.

  1. What can we give is only a miniscule of what we have received. It is great to read the acts of charity and contributions made by you. Keep it up. This is the only way we can reduce our sufferings, expect kindness of God and lead a happy life. I don’t know whether I am able to do justice with my patients or whether I am working appropriately or not, but surely there is always a scope for doing better. Sincere acts and all efforts made in service of humanity are real worship. Wish you a trouble free and happy life.

You have nicely articulated your post-retirement activities; most importantly the charitable involvement. I would like to cite your blogs as a charity towards us, which have been educating us since last 8 years.

Five years back, both Guddi and myself had made a resolution that; we wouldn’t keep more storage space for keeping our belongings except some daily needs. Thus we used to distribute the same to the needy persons. By doing this we both feel delighted.

Thanks again for reminding on the subject, which further boosted our keenness thereto.

    Dr.Panda ji.

This article “Count Your Blessings….” is another pearl to your crown. In the journey of spiritual path one should do daily spiritual practices, satsang and essentially seva [charity]. As mentioned in the beginning of your article the seva can be done physically, mentally or financially. If one is not capable in those they can bless people whole heartedly. But Pandaji, you are doing charity in all possible ways even though you are affected by your ill health. In addition you are spreading the spiritual knowledge using modern techniques. Awesome ji. If anybody takes care of others` needs with out expecting anything in turn, Nature will take care of the needs.

All blessings are there for you ji.
